Coral & Current started on a simple idea: that Lake Norman deserved an aquarium shop where the advice is as good as the livestock. Twelve years on, that's a full showroom in Mooresville, five service vans and 400+ tanks we look after every month.
Our story
One van, one promise
We opened in 2014 with a single service van and a promise to show up when we said we would. The showroom followed, then the custom-build side, then four more vans as the lake filled up with reef tanks.
Today we look after more than 400 aquariums from Statesville to Charlotte — lake houses, dental offices, restaurants and a lot of first-time freshwater tanks. Whether you're new to the hobby or running a mixed reef, you get the same honest advice and the same people every visit.
We'd rather sell you the right fish than the most fish. That's the whole business model.

Quarantine first
Every fish sits in our quarantine system before it reaches the sales floor. That's why we can put a 10-day guarantee on it.
Same tech, every visit
Service customers get a regular technician who knows their tank, their livestock and where the spare key lives.
Honest stocking advice
If a fish will outgrow your tank or bully your reef, we'll tell you — even if it means a smaller sale today.
Sustainable sourcing
Captive-bred and aquacultured livestock wherever it exists, and coral frags grown in our own systems.
